Since 2012, Legacy Music Alliance has been raising funds to support music education programs in Utah. With over 900 band, orchestra, choir, handbell, guitar, percussion, jazz ensemble, and bagpipe programs in all junior high and high school schools in Utah, the budget to refurbish, update or purchase all of the necessary school-owned music equipment in these programs would be in excess of $2 million.
With your help, Legacy Music Alliance has been able to fund repairs, assist with instrument and sheet music purchases, place and pay highly-qualified clinicians to hold clinics in the classrooms, and help to provide additional necessary resources to keep about 25% of the state’s music programs operational for teachers and students.
Our goal during the 2018- 2019 school year is to support 250 music programs in the state.
Ben Lomond High School
“Many of the students at Ben Lomond will live and die in Ogden. Too many won’t go to college, and too many won’t break the cycle of poverty that they were raised in.” Music has the ability to break that cycle. Legacy Music Alliance has helped give that gift to some of our students here at Ben Lomond. We have been able to purchase school instruments for students who couldn’t afford their own and would otherwise not be able to continue in their music education.”
-Cory Jensen, Former Music Director, Ben Lomond High School
Woods Cross High School
“When professionals come and work with my students, it adds validity to what I do day-to-day and inspires the students to see what is possible. These clinics help many, if not all, of our 120 band students. .”
-Todd Campbell, Music Director, Woods Cross High School
EskDale High School
“Aaron Ashton and fellow musicians Igor Iachimciuc and Jake Workman woke up early and drove four hours from SLC to give our students an awesome musical experience. They were genuinely interested in the students, working with them individually and as a group. These people stayed all day, working with students and answering questions. They stayed to perform an evening concert, including the students on several numbers. It was an exhausting schedule, yet, they were so positive and inspirational to the very end! ”
-Lois Faber, Music Director, EskDale High School
Vista School of Performing Arts and Technology
“I am a graduate of the Juilliard School and began my careere as a performer/private teacher in New York and California. I have come to realize the importance of giving back of the knowledge I have been so fortunate to acquire through my years as a student, performer and as an instructor. I am grateful to be able to offer students much-needed instruments for this brand-new program. ”
-Linda Ghidossi-DeLuca, String Orchestra Teacher, Vista School
